Leprosy Care

About Leprosy Care

The historical fear of leprosy has led to the continued social stigma against those with the disease. People with leprosy are considered outcasts, unwanted, and untouchable in Indian society. Even though leprosy is rarely transmitted from person to person, they are forced to live outside the cities in special colonies and are unable to hold employment. This is especially difficult as many are left disfigured from the effects of the disease and must rely on begging to earn an income. Send Hope supports two leper colonies where these individuals are given medical attention, hygiene education, and nutrition. Our beautiful residents are shown unconditional love, grace, and mercy. Your gift provides food and medical care to a leper who could not otherwise afford to receive care.
